From the USA Today: Sobering facts about American's state of retirement.
- Already, the economic slowdown is causing Americans to rethink their retirement plans. More than one-quarter of workers ages 45-64 say they've postponed plans for retirement because of the sputtering economy, according to a new survey by the AARP.
- Nearly half of American workers have less than $25,000 in retirement savings, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute. Thirty-six percent of workers 55 and older have less than $25,000 in savings.
- For those who do have a retirement, most are not likely to have as much money for retirement as they'd projected due to a false sense of values of stocks and homes.
While this is negative news for most it is very positive for the growth of our industry be sure to make sure you spend your time only with those who have a commitment to their future, not just a dime a dozen "see how it goes" mentality.
